Synthesizer Board
Finally the last board. Here
are some before pictures of the synthesizer board. This was the most
difficult board to do. There is copper on both sides of the board, the
copper on the component side being a ground plane covering the entire
board. The through holes are also plated. It was very difficult getting
the old parts off the board but I got them all off. Couple parts were
destroyed in the process and had to be replace, mostly the .1ufd glass
caps. I replaced all the coax lines with a much better quality coax. I
did not install the mods on this board as I wanted to see if I had the
synthesizer radiation problem first (and I do a little bit but still
haven't put in the mods). One of my mods was to install a board mounted
switch in place of the wire socket on the board that puts it into test
mode. Also, the original builder apparently substituted 5 of the
transistors on the board, possible during troubleshooting attempts.
However, small signal AF amp/switch transistors were substituted. I
replaced them all with small signal RF amp transistors. |
